Former FUSE Metal VJ JULIYA Battles Network Over Rights To 'Slave To The Metal' Name
September 28, 2006Ex-Fuse network metal VJ Juliya is currently involved in a dispute with her former employer over several previously unaired episodes of her "extreme advice" show "Slave to the Metal" which the channel has allegedly threatened to broadcast even after Juliya's contract with the television network expired and was not renewed.
Says Juliya, "My team wants to let Fuse TV put 'Slave to the Metal' back on the air. And we want to give Fuse TV a year's worth of Mistress Juliya programming — practically for free. But Fuse TV has said they won't air any Mistress Juliya shows until my team agrees that Fuse TV owns 'Slave to the Metal'.
"How can Fuse TV think for one minute they own 'Slave to the Metal' when they had nothing to do with conceiving the show? As a matter of fact, the 'Slave to the Metal' extreme advice show was originally going to be on Sirius Satellite Radio (Channel 27 Hard Attack) until Fuse TV stepped in and said they wanted the show. "The bottom line is that the only person that owns Mistress Juliya is me, my-fuckin'-self and I. We even told Fuse TV that they could air a 'Slave to the Metal' episode (as long as they agreed not to change the name of the show to 'Maid of Metal' [as Fuse allegedly threatened to do when Juliya's proposed post-term deal with Fuse was rejected — Ed.]) while we tried to work it out. Then Fuse TV's lawyers showed up, called off the negotiations and refused to let my team into the building. Even after we were shut down, our team tried to reason with Fuse TV."
Juliya adds in a statement sent to BLABBERMOUTH.NET, "I've worked at Fuse TV for five years, had three shows that brought them lots of fans, and, in return, this is how they treat the heavy metal community?"
